Dear Zooarch members

I wanted to ask if there is anything that can be done with Mytilidae epidermis. I am analyzing material from a site in Iceland that is producing a lot of quite large pieces (up to 10 cm in length and 5 in with) of epidermis from what I am pretty sure are mussels (most likely M. edulis or M. modiolus) but there is no actual shell preserved. Is it possible to do anything with the epidermis? Is there a sensible way to count them or quantify in some way?

Kind regards,
