The Department of Early Prehistory and Quaternary Ecology and the Institute
for Archaeological Sciences at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen invites
applications for the Masters of Science (MSc) and Ph.D. programs for Winter
2012.



The Department specializes in scientific archaeology, with concentrations
in archeometry, archeobotany, zooarchaeology, geoarchaeology, and
paleogenetics.



The program features:

-          Access to archaeological collections spanning the Paleolithic
through Medieval periods from Europe, Africa, and Asia

-          Large comparative faunal collection

-          Graduate courses taught in English

-          No tuition

-          Support for living expenses through archaeological field and lab
work



Specialists in zooarchaeology include a range of postdocs, researchers, and
permanent staff:

-          Prof. Dr. Nicholas Conard (Paleolithic of Europe, SW Asia, and
S. Africa)

-          Dr. Monika Doll (Bronze Age through Medieval periods,
slaughtering techniques)

-          Dr. Dorothée Drucker (Dietary and environmental reconstructions,
isotopic studies)

-          Dr. Marie-Anne Julien (Paleolithic of Europe, stable isotopes)

-          Dr. Petra Krönneck (Paleolithic of Germany, environmental
reconstructions, birds)

-          Dr. Susanne Münzel (Paleolithic of Germany, carnivores,
taphonomy)

-          Dr. Hannes Napierala (Paleolithic through Neolithic,
“transitions”, domestication)

-          Dr. Britt Starkovich (Paleolithic through Bronze Age of the
Mediterranean)

-          Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Uerpmann (retired; Paleolithic through
