The PhD Position is available in team 3: Therapeutic innovations in cerebrovascular disease lead by Isabelle Loubinoux.

The research focuses on behavioral assessment of motor deficits after a stroke in marmosets or rats. The effects of a bio-prosthesis on motor recovery will be evaluated. The bioprosthesis is made with biocompatible materials and hold stem cells. The bioprosthesis has to replace the damaged corticospinal tract.

Follow-up of the graft will be done with MRI (manganese-enhanced MRI, labeling of stem cells). Success of the graft will be confirmed by histology and immunostaining.

We are looking for a candidate with a solid interest and background in neurosciences and behavior with a clear biomedical interest. The candidate should have a MSc degree in Neurosciences, Cognition, Behavior, Biology, NeuroImaging or the equivalent. Know-how in cell culture will be also appreciated.

Maximum employment Maximum of 38 hours per week (1 FTE)
Duration of contract 3 years
Salary scale €1684.93€ per month gross
