LIKE North and ILIG Workshop: Living and Working Overseas

Have you ever dreamed of starting your day in the surf at Bondi Beach? Discovering Middle Eastern culture in Dubai? Or noshing on sushi for lunch in Tokyo?

Then this workshop is for you!

LIKE North and CILIP’s International Library and Information Group (ILIG) present four speakers who have worked across the globe and are happy to share how they did it. Book online at http://likenorth3.eventbrite.com/ - limited to 20 places.

Lisa Jeskins is an information professional and freelance trainer. She’s a chartered librarian with over 12 years experience working in a variety of libraries and has lived in Paris, Barcelona, Dubai and Milton Keynes. Currently based in Manchester (well you can take the girl out of Manchester but…) working in promotions and outreach for the Archives Hub and Copac. She’s very happy to talk to you about all of her experiences living in different cities.

Kirsten Gallagher is a teacher librarian at an international school in Japan, working with children from the ages of 3 to 11. Prior to moving into the junior school library, she was a Kindergarten teacher holding posts in Frankfurt, London and Tokyo all in the International schools sector. She has a Bachelors degree in Education from Bradford University and is half way through a Masters in Information and Library Management. Kirsten will discuss living and working overseas in 
relation to International Schools.

Michelle Bond is a careers information assistant and library school student in Sheffield. Before discovering the information profession she spent many years wandering the world, including stints living in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. She will talk about the magic of working holiday visas and the up-and-downsides of living overseas.

Susan Mottram is a librarian who has worked around the world. She is currently based in Bradford.

Ian Stringer from the ILIG Committee is also attending the workshop and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the Group.

This workshop is being held in the private room, upstairs at the Rutland Arms. Talks will start at 6.30pm.
