Course Outline:



This one-day seminar will give attendees a basic grounding in social media so that they can get started using and making the most of the main platforms available. The seminar will focus on how to use social networking to market your organisation or service.



By the end of the day attendees should have a good understanding of:



    Why should I use social media for marketing my organisation?

    Is social marketing working? How do I know?

    Where do I start?

    Which social networking platforms/approaches should I try?

    Basics of netiquette

    There's SO MUCH! How do I make it easy to manage?

    How do I know what to talk about?



Who should attend:



This course is aimed at anyone who is considering using social networking for their organisation and doesn't know where to start. If you need help getting started, this course will provide the grounding you need to get going and be confident in using the different platforms.



Course Presenters:



Megan Roberts (@MeganJRoberts) is Information and e-media specialist for business support company Oxford Innovation. She provides specialist support to businesses and staff on using Social Media for business.



Ned Potter (@TheRealWikiman) is an academic librarian at the University of York. He speaks and writes on the subjects of marketing and emerging technologies, and is the author the Library Marketing Toolkit (Facet 2012).
