Dear All,

We are currently reviewing our procedures for dealing with student fines and students who do not return books that they have had on loan for a long period of time.
At the moment students receive several reminders to return the books and then if there is no response we raise an email invoice to bill them for the replacement costs.
So they are effectively 'lost' to us but often the student still has them at home. We are investigatinng how we should follow this up or whether we should change this system, and I wondered what other academic libraries do in this situation. For example, contacting the students department, debt collection procedures, etc.

Any feedback on this would be welcome.

Kind regards,

Karen Crinnion
