Skills Adviser

University of Hull - Library & Learning Innovation

Joining a brand new Skills Team at the University of Hull, this is your opportunity to explore new technologies and means of delivering skills support to students and staff on the Hull and Scarborough Campuses. The University of Hull has a diverse community, encompassing home and international students, recent school leavers and mature learners, many with learning differences. In this role you will provide support to all, at all levels within the University.

You will work in our digital environment, creating online materials as necessary and embracing the opportunities provided by the growth of mobile technology. Support for people face to face is also important to us and you will work with both small and larger groups.

Library and Learning Innovation is an exciting and dynamic place to work with a strong vision and mission underpinned by shared values, and a commitment to being at the heart of the success of the University. This is an exciting period for Library and Learning Innovation with a major redevelopment in progress of both the physical Library and our virtual space. Additionally the new University Strategic Plan emphasizes the importance of the Skills Framework and defining the attributes of the Hull graduate. Library and Learning Innovation will have a significant role in delivering support for digital literacy, academic writing, study skills, maths and statistics within that framework. You will be a learning development professional with a relevant degree or qualification and experience of working face-to-face with students. You are also required to have a knowledge of the current HE skills agenda, as well as knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment methods. You will specialise in at least one area of student skills support at HE level and we particularly welcome applicants with expertise of working with student peer support networks or providing skills support in academic writing at all levels including postgraduate or supporting skills for digital data recording and analysis using tolls, for example SPSS and Nvivo.

There are two Skills Adviser posts available.

Salary range £31,020 - £35,938 pa

Closing date: 30 July 2012
