Dear all,

On Thursday 13th September 2012 at the River and Rowing Museum in Henley, Dea Birkett and I will be running our unique TextWorkshop course on writing text for panels and labels.

This course brings together expertise from the worlds of museums and journalism to give you a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of good writing. In a day packed with tips, examples and exercises, you’ll feel challenged and motivated, and you’ll take away lots of new and practical ideas. Recent delegates to our courses have said:

“The best part of the day for me was getting advice based on tonnes of real experience.”

“It’s really useful to have inputs from editor and journalist – it was full of top tips.”

"A brilliant, invigorating and very practical course."

“Excellent value for money – it more than met my expectations.”

Also coming up is our Trails TextWorkshop on Tuesday 6th November 2012 at the Jewish Museum, London. If you develop visitor trails for museums, galleries, historic houses, towns or gardens, come along for day filled with practical tips, examples and new ideas to take away. It includes the chance to look at what works and doesn’t work in a trail, experiment with writing trails, and try out real-life trail text on-site.

In the diary for the end of the year is our Digital TextWorkshop on Wednesday 5th December 2012 at the Saatchi Gallery, London. This Digital TextWorkshop will cover all the tips and tricks of effective digital communication, with input from experts from inside and outside the museum field. We’ll cover writing for blogs – as well as how and why you should tweet.

All these specialist writing courses run from 10.30am to 4.30pm and cost from only £75. Find out more, and book online, at www.textworkshop.co.uk – you can now settle up using Paypal.

TextWorkshop is run by Rebecca Mileham, freelance interpretation consultant and author, and Dea Birkett, journalist, author and director of Kids in Museums. See what goes on at a TextWorkshop on the website at www.textworkshop.co.uk, and do get in touch if you'd like to explore in-house training or consultancy. We love doing that, too.

If you have any queries, just drop us a line, and we look forward to seeing you soon at a TextWorkshop!

Rebecca and Dea.
