Hi Lynne,

We had the scenario that they all failed an exam taken in October - there were 3 different versions of material (disk input / question paper / specialist tutor instructions) dispatched to us. It took them the entire day to rectify for the afternoon exam, and the paper we ended up using carried a 17.5% VAT rate, not 20%, so I wrote a letter accompanying the scripts explaining that they had to be marked taking the different VAT rate into account. All our students failed too.

They were mature students who were all expected to pass, and there was something like a 95% pass rate for the satellite centre over the last few years, so I disputed. They offered a re-mark, which gave the same result, and would as all they were doing was checking the marking guide had been adhered to when marking the scripts. I again asked for confirmation that the scripts were marked in accordance to the 17.5% VAT rate, and at that point they informed me that the scripts had gone missing at C&G.

They offered us either a free re-sit or remote assessment, all but one opted for remote assessment. The certs were then issued without the grades. I am thrilled to say that I received the new certs last week, around 9 months after the test date.

I hope you get on better than I do, good luck!

Amy

Hi Amy

Yes the last session we ran in May was horrendous, I had to send a long report off with it as we found like you, that the imported data did not tally with the question paper. It was just constant interruptions and generally a nightmare.

We've had the results back and of course they all failed, they sent me an email the same day as they issued the results to tell me they thought it needed further investigation and would respond within 5 working days - that was Saturday and still nothing.

Hi everyone,

Think I have asked this in the past, but need to ask again, does anyone deliver the above qualification, and do you have any issues with it?

We historically have had issues with this qual, but this year has been horrendous - big problem with it for a November exam, then there have been several instances since with it where data input conflicts with tasks on the question paper, and we have had to contact C&G during the exam for advice / clarification and send letters off to them accompanying the scripts each time.

I have asked our management to take it forward on my behalf as it'll hold more clout coming from them, but I have firstly been asked to check if Coleg Gwent's other campuses are having similar issues, so thought it would be a good idea to check with other centres too.

Thanks,

Amy
