Dear Colleagues:

We would like to invite you to consider submitting an abstract to the AGU Fall meeting (San Francisco, 3-7 December 2012) in Mineral and Rock Physics, session:

" MR012: Mudstone Multiphysics: Matrix to Fractures and Back Again"

Session description:

Shale gas plays, long-term storage of CO2, and disposal of nuclear waste spur research on dynamics of clay-bearing rocks and engineered barriers. Matrix-fracture interactions influence production decline, fracture healing, flow and transport, and leakage pathway development. Risk assessment requires long term prediction of sealing performance. This Session invites researchers in various disciplines to interact on the topic of multiphysics of mudstone with emphasis on multi-scale characterization, analysis, and upscaling. This includes but is not limited to assessment of fracture networks, shale gas, CO2 storage, novel methods for nano-to-seismic characterization, fracture propagation and healing, and pore-to-continuum modeling.

The abstract submission site is now open<http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/> and will close on August 8th. You should register at AGU before August 1st to be considered as an AGU member to submit your abstract

Please, distribute this call for abstracts to anyone who might be interested in this session.
