Subject: Re: Term Time only NMH support

Hi

We have been advised that students can use support at any time, it no longer has to be limited to term time. We have been asking for a copy of written policy on this but nothing seems to exist. The only difference is that we were getting varied responses to the question of support during the summer and eventually got this response:

In response to your query, I have received this from Matt Hall, who is our QA officer.

Students can use their NMH over the summer providing they do not exceed the agreed amount of hours (otherwise a request for more is needed).

If these students are final year then this is slightly different as the end date will usually be between May and July. Any support given after the end date is usually ok but we would usually need confirmation as to why it is being used after this date. If they confirm the student is just resitting some exams/extended for a few weeks/months this is fine.

Its if the support is being provided after 1st September when we need to see if they are actually repeating the full year or being made to re enroll by the uni. If they are doing either we would need an Application for this next year and would agreed to an extra year DSA. If they are not repeating the full year and the uni are just allowing them access for a short time we can continue to pay without a new app.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Needless to say I have kept this email to refer back to should the need arise.

Subject: Term Time only NMH support

Dear Disforum

I've been asked to provide some information regarding non-medical helper support and specifically the ruling on support during term-time. Does anyone out there know where I can find a document from SFE that states that NMH support can only be provided during term time?

Best wishes

Danny
