Artists Summer School 2012: imitating the dog

Monday 13th August - Saturday 18th August (noon)

Deadline for applications is THIS Sunday 15th July 2012

The amazing performance/film company imitating the dog (itd) are running Live at LICA's 2012 summer school. Taking place in the Nuffield Theatre in Lancaster this August, this will be an opportunity to experience the devising process of a company making work that combines film, animation, scenography, text, music and performance in really novel and interesting ways.

We are seeking participants from a range of artforms, including performance and dance, visual art, digital art and sound/music.  We are particularly keen to offer teachers new methods and approaches to making work with young people, but this summer school is also open to artists wishing to explore itd’s cross disciplinary performance making strategies.

The School will be run by itd’s founder members Andrew Quick (director, dramaturg, scenographer) and Simon Wainwright (video designer) with composer (and itd collaborator) James Hamilton.

itd has been creating and touring original performance work since 1998. Over this period the company has built up a unique reputation, both within the UK and worldwide, for making high quality touring theatre that challenges theatrical convention and creates exciting and testing viewing experiences for its audiences. From the outset itd have been committed to developing innovative scenographic techniques that explore the narrative potential of theatre and to locate new modes of story-telling in a culture where the concepts of narrative linearity and coherent identity no longer seem to hold sway. The aim of the work is to be innovatory and, at the same time, making performances that are accessible to its audiences.

"a company at the forefront of testing the nature of theatre" - The Guardian

The cost of the summer school is just £150 (institutional rate) and £100 for freelancers.
