Project Archivist (Martin and Hannah Norbert-Miller Archive)

Salary: £27,385 - £28,913 per annum incl LW

9 month fixed-term

 

Applications are invited for a Project Archivist in the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies and the Senate House Libraries. 

 

The principal role of this post is to catalogue the Miller Papers according to agreed standards, and generally to make the resulting Archive accessible in response to academic demand.  The candidate will be responsible for sorting, accessioning, cataloguing, listing and indexing of the archive and manuscript collections comprising the Miller Archive, and ensuring that the materials are catalogued to agreed standards and the project targets and deadlines are met.

 

You must have strong experience post-archival qualification in an academic library, special collection, or research institute environment.  In addition you must have knowledge of ISAD(G) and other archival standards.  Working knowledge of library information systems, including MARC cataloguing or similar will be advantageous.  Fluency in German and familiarity with German script in the late 19th/early 20th centuries, along with demonstrable interest in 20th-century European cultural history is essential for this role.

 

This is a fixed term post for 9 months in the first instance.
