Established in 1834, the British
Architectural Library (BAL) is one of the world’s preeminent collections
for research and information on all aspects of architecture and the largest of
its kind in
The BAL is embarking upon an
exciting and transformative review of its services and is seeking to recruit to
this newly-created role, a talented individual with the vision and commitment
to lead the development and delivery of the Library’s 2012-2016 digital
strategy.
You will have a proven record of
staff and service management ideally with some experience of income-generation,
along with a demonstrated ability to innovate and to inspire colleagues, users
and other key stakeholders. You should also have experience of managing a broad
range of collection types and of using ICT to manage and provide access to
these. This senior post will take responsibility for three core areas of BAL
activity:

Development, management and provision of relevant, up-to-date
and user-friendly, digital services, both on-site and via the RIBA website, www.architecture.com;
·
Overseeing the management, development and delivery of
on-site and remote information services at
·
Overseeing the management and development of technical
services, including library systems, book and serials cataloguing, and our
indexing service, Architectural Periodicals Index.
