Dear Colleagues, Last week a colleague excavated two waterholes in Norway. It is a relatively new feature for that country, possibly not always recognised as such. The pits were dug into the boulder clay (ground moraine) and lined with a clay layer to make it water tight. They were cone shaped, a diameter of 2 metres and 1.5 metres deep. One of the waterholes had a ditch connected with it. Possibly ditch and water hole served to collect water for people or animals. Does anybody know about relevant (experimental) literature and what questions does it answer or could be answered by experimenting except for 'does it work'? Best wishes, Roeland Paardekooper EXARC Director www.exarc.net
