This senior lecturership is within Business Information Systems (BIS), one of the three academic departments of the School of Electronics and Computer Science. The school is co-located in excellent facilities in London’s West End.

The department operates a single undergraduate programme: the BSc Business Information Systems (http://www.westminster.ac.uk/schools/computing/subjects), with franchises overseas, and a suite of highly successful postgraduate courses, including the MSc in Business Intelligence and Analytics. The role is to lead the development of postgraduate and professional courses in Business Analytics from a position of strong research and teaching experience in a related field, supporting the school strategy for developing third leg income, through teaching excellence related to research strength.

The postholder will therefore continue to be research active, contributing to existing and emerging REF-able research, consultancy and knowledge transfer activities in analytics, with special focus on one or more of the following areas: web and text analytics, geo-spatial analytics  and applications to healthcare.

The postholder will join the school’s Operational Research and Intelligent Systems (ORIS) research cluster which has a range of expertise and interests, including: operational research and analytics, data and knowledge management, and systems interoperability. A particular strength is the application of these to the health sector.

As a successful candidate, you will have a Doctorate in a quantitative discipline in Science, Engineering or Mathematics, possibly in: Statistics, Operational Research, Physics, Econometrics, Machine Learning, Data Mining, or Computer Science. You will also be expected to have substantial research experience at post-doctoral level in one of these quantitative disciplines, with a proven record of top quality peer-reviewed publications and evidence of successful grant proposal writing.
