MSc in Social Research Methods and Statistics (SRMS) at the University of Manchester, UK.

www.ccsr.ac.uk/masters/

The SRMS MSc course provides a thorough grounding in advanced quantitative methods, taught within an applied social science framework. Modules include: Statistical Foundations, Introduction to Statistical Modelling, Survey Research and Longitudinal Data Analysis. The MSc includes training in statistical analysis software such as SPSS and Stata. The MSc is designed to be accessible to people from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds and with varying levels of prior statistical knowledge. The course attracts students from across the world.

The course is available full-time over one year or part-time over two-years. Often people take the course whilst continuing to work part-time.

There is a need for well-trained social scientists who are able to apply advanced methods of analysis to complex data. Graduates of our programme in Social Research Methods and Statistics are in a good position to obtain jobs in central government, the academic sector (including continuing to PhD), local government and commercial research. See www.ccsr.ac.uk/masters/grad_dest.htm

Our research, along with colleagues in Sociology, was rated joint first in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, with the highest proportion of research judged to be “world leading” of any UK higher education institution.

A small number of places are available for September 2012
