Hi all (with the usual apologies for cross-posting)

At midday tomorrow we'll be kicking off (what we believe is) the world's first ever urban BioBlitz.

Just like a normal BioBlitz, we will be taking 24 hours to survey two areas of parkland next door to our centre here in Oxford. However - and this is the exciting bit - we will also be asking the people of this bit of the city to tell us what they can find just outside their own homes, whether that's in their gardens, or on the pavement nearby. You can see a map of what the area we are hoping to cover at www.scienceoxfordlive.com/bioblitz.

It's been a massive project and I will (of course) let you all know how we got on once the dust has settled (or maybe that should be 'once the floodwaters have subsided').

I know we're all good scientists and we don't think it will make any difference, but if you could all pray for sun and wish us luck then that would be really nice...
