Dear All This is an enquiry primarily aimed at English HER officers and managers, though those in Scotland, Wales and overseas may also be able to contribute. There has, for some time, been an aim to assemble a library of templates to assist HERs in creating the full raft of policy documentation outlined in the HER Benchmarks for Good Practice, Informing the Future of the Past and other guidance. As a preliminary to this it seemed a good idea to form a general picture of which HERs actually have the various categories of document involved and, if they are especially proud of them, to ask if they might donate copies for use in the putative library (in a suitably redacted state if necessary) to serve as generally accessible templates. A list of the documents in which we are interested are the: Information Services Policy Charging Policy (or Access Policy or Access and Charging Policy) Information Policy Disposals Policy Recording Manual (or Guidelines) Procedural Manual to support a developed GIS System System Security Policy Risk Assessment and Emergency Preparedness (or Disaster) Plan Statement of Purpose or Mission Statement Forward Plan Recording Policy Information Systems Policy Succession Plan More detailed information as to references and descriptions can be found attached (if the attachment has disappeared please contact me off list and I will re-send). I should emphasise that the plan is still at an embryonic 'scoping' stage and that no detailed decisions have been made as to the format of the library or its possible eventual home. Any contribution that you might be able to volunteer at this point, however, would be most apprevciatively received. It would probably be best, unless you have ideas that invite more general discussion, to make any responses to me off-list.
