For over twenty years, the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing has been an important forum for applied computer scientists, computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers to interact and present their work. SAC 2013 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP), and is presented in cooperation with other ACM Special Interest Groups.

The Evolutionary Computation (EC) track welcomes original, unpublished papers describing advances in and applications of evolutionary computation and related techniques, including genetic algorithms, evolution strategies, evolutionary programming, memetic algorithms, genetic programming, ant colony optimization, co-evolutionary algorithms, artificial immune systems, particle swarm optimization, and classifier systems. All accepted papers will appear in the SAC 2013 Proceedings. Selected papers, not accepted as full papers, will be accepted as poster papers. These will be presented at a poster session during the Symposium and will be published as two-page extended abstracts in the Proceedings. A paper may be submitted to only one track of SAC 2013.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

    *) Papers should represent original and previously unpublished works that are currently not under review for any journal or other conference. Both basic and applied research papers are welcome.

     *) Submissions will be in electronic format via this web site: https://www.softconf.com/c/sac2013/

     *) Submission must follow the template found at this URL: http://www.acm.org/conferences/sac/sac2013/

     *) Authors are allowed up to eight (8) pages in the specified format, but there is a charge of US$80 for each page over six (6).

     *) Authors' names and addresses must not appear in the body of the submitted papers, and self-references should be in the third person. This is to facilitate blind review.

     *) Begin the submission process by submitting your paper's abstract on the conference web site at the URL above.

     *) All submitted papers must include the paper identification number (assigned when the abstract is submitted) on the front page above the title of the paper.

     *) No author's name may appear on more than two papers accepted to the EC track.

     *) For accepted papers, registration for the conference is required and allows accepted papers to be printed in the conference proceedings. For each accepted paper, an author or a proxy attending SAC MUST present the paper. This is a requirement for the paper to be included in the ACM/IEEE digital library.

NEW for SAC 2013 Student Research Competition (SRC) Program: Graduate students are invited to submit research abstracts (minimum of 2-page and maximum of 4-page) following the instructions published at SAC 2013 website. Submission of the same abstract to multiple tracks is not allowed. All research abstract submissions will be reviewed by researchers and practitioners with expertise in the track focus area to which they are submitted. Authors of selected abstracts will have the opportunity to give poster presentations of their work and compete for three top-winning places. The SRC committee will evaluate and select First-, Second-, and Third- place winners. The winners will receive cash awards and SIGAPP recognition certificates during the conference banquet. Authors of selected abstracts are eligible to apply to the SIGAPP Student Travel Award program for support.
