The School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR) University of Kent is hosting a free, one-day workshop for PhD students involved in ethnographic work in the area of youth cultures, crime and transgression.

 

This event is funded by the ESRC SEDTC and the University of Kent Graduate School and will take place on Friday 21st September, 2012 at the University of Kent, Canterbury campus. 

 

The workshop aims to provide PhD students, at any stage of their research, with an opportunity to share methodological experiences and theoretical ideas in an informal and supportive environment. For those students at the latter stages of their PhD, the workshop will provide an opportunity to share emergent research findings with peers and scholars researching and writing in this area.  Dr Kate O’Brien, Lecturer in Criminology at University of Kent, and Dr Shane Blackman, Reader in Cultural Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University will facilitate the workshop.  

 

Priority will be given to students in the South East ESRC institutions and Canterbury Christchurch students (although the workshop is open to any PhD student doing ethnographic work in this area).   Places are limited.  For more information see the link below:
