The important thing about running is, your fitness goes down, but you can still improve your performance. It depends on what level youre at. . The AAOS maintains that stretching remains an excellent way to help maintain joint flexibility, while weight training can increase muscle mass and strength, enabling people to continue their daily routine activities without maximal exertion. . Exercise can offset the negative effects of aging, improving cardiovascular health (lowering cholesterol and blood pressure), and improving body composition (lowering body fat and increasing bone density), according to the American College of Sports Medicine. . ACSM also points out that exercise increases joint flexibility, and also increases muscular strength important, because after age 50, strength decreases 15 percent per decade; and after age 70, it decreases 30 percent per decade. . .
