Technology supporting assessment and feedback at Keele University: Project STAF

Monday June 11 2012 -  13.00-14.00 (Online via Blackboard Collaborate)

Project STAF at the University of Keele has been funded through the JISC Building Capacity programme.

With some notable exceptions, the adoption at Keele of technology to support marking and giving feedback has been slow. Barriers to change in assessment practices include staff workloads on large courses, work habits, staff concerns about losing personal contact with students, and the variety of needs of different programmes and assessment types.  The main aim of Project STAF is to use technology to improve the assessment and feedback processes across Keele University by getting the most out of the systems already available to the institution (Blackboard and Grademark) and embed technology use within academic practice through a structured support and process framework to bring about institutional change for the benefit of students and staff.

Dr Stephen Bostock (Project Leader) and Matthew Street (Project Co-ordinator) will talk about how the project has evolved and emergent outcomes from the project which will be of interest to other institutions involved in institutional change initiatives around assessment and feedback.

Kind regards,

Marianne Sheppard
