British Science Association

JOB TITLE: Press Assistant

REPORTING TO: Communications Manager

BASED: Wellcome Wolfson Building, Queens Gate, London, SW7 5HD

TERMS: Full time 35 hours per week. Fixed term contract from July to end of September 2012

SALARY: £18,660 pro-rata per annum

Each year, the British Science Association holds the British Science Festival, one of the UK’s largest science festivals. It attracts over 350 of the UK’s top scientists and engineers to discuss the latest developments in science with the public. This year, the Festival will take place from 4-9 September 2012 in Aberdeen. The Festival generates a great deal of press interest and the British Science Association runs a strong press operation to facilitate this.

We are looking for a Press Assistant to assist in the run-up to, during and immediately after the Festival.

In the run up to the Festival the Association provides support and guidance for researchers presenting at the Festival and we also assist the journalists in early engagement with the research by providing press papers. On site during the Festival week, the British Science Association holds a number of press conferences and operates a Press Centre.
