JOB POSTING: FIRST ®LEGO® League Manager for the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)



Deadline for applications:         13.00 Friday 11 May

Interviews:         Monday 28 May

Fixed-term contract until 31 May 2013 with rolling extensions dependent upon the extension of the programme contract with LEGO Group

Hours:   Full time, 35 hours per week

Based: IET, Stevenage, Herts

Salary:   £26,000 - £30,000 with 25 days holiday per annum, extensive benefits including free lunches, pension contributions and healthcare insurance



The IET is delighted to have been invited by LEGO Education Europe to take on the management of the FIRST ®LEGO® League competition for the UK and Ireland. This will be for one season in the first instance with the contract becoming a rolling on-going contract (period to be determined) should the running of the 2012/13 season be successful.



An opportunity now exists for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, well-organised individual with excellent management and people skills and a willingness to travel to take on the management of the programme as part of the portfolio of activities within the IET's Education 5-19 department.



FIRST ®LEGO® League is an international competition for school students aged 9 to 16. Teams of up to 10 students use LEGO and LEGO Mindstorms kits to build and programme a robot to complete a challenge, they prepare a project around the annual theme and they have to demonstrate FIRST ®LEGO® League values. Teams prepare their entry during the autumn term to compete in a regional heat. The winners of the regional heats go through to the National Finals, the winners of which go to the World Finals in St. Louis, USA.
