2012 Summer Internships on Social Media
pdf version: http://bit.ly/MhnDPh

At The Computer Lab of the University of Cambridge, we seek summer
interns who will contribute to software development and data analysis
in a variety of research projects in the area of social media,
including:

Local Idea Marketplace. This is a site in which local groups of people
can vote on ideas and upload new ones. The fun voting process would
result into having the best ideas bubble to the top.

Analytics Dashboard for Future Cities. This is a web-based interactive
visualization and exploration platform for all kinds of live
information about cities including weather, transport, local news, and
social media usage.

These 3-month internships typically start in June and end in August,
and they could be exciting opportunities for UK/EU Undergraduate,
Master, and PhD students in Computer Science, Geospatial Sciences,
Information Systems, and Interaction Design who wish to conduct
research and contribute to curriculum development. Previous experience
in web development and data mining is required, and ability to work
under tight deadlines a must. Applications should be emailed to
Daniele Quercia ([log in to unmask]) and Jon Crowcroft
([log in to unmask]) no later than May 30.
