medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Yes, there are entries for Ps. Augustinus Hippon. (index pp. 753-54), but not for a "Soliloquium."

A quick search through the Chadwyck PL does not turn up the text in another PL locale.  The author uses the odd word "clenodia" twice (at 1159D, 1165D).  That  word is used elsewhere only in Chronicon Hildesheimense PL 141), the Gesta Abbatum Trudonensium (PL 173) ,and Testamentum Absalonis Archiepiscopi Lundensis (PL 184), all ir relevant to this context. So all that seems known about the authorship is  "Non est sancti Bernardi. Editum tamen est sub eius nomine as Gretsero Ingolstadti, anno 1617, ex bibliotheca Carthusianorum Erefordensium."

Paul, The Clavis  only contains entries for writers and works "a  Tertulliano ad Bedam," therefore no one after 735.

Yes, but are there not entries for dubia et spuria of St Augustine?

Marijim Thoene, you should at least provide us the volume number in which your Soliloquium occurs. Is it 1347, 176, 184, or 195?

Marijim, it would probably help us if you gave some more information about which Soliloquium is of interest to you. If it's the pseudo-Augustinian Soliloquia in PL40, I believe the author is unknown, but is thought to be 13th-century.

It would be good to check the Clavis Patrum Latinorum, which I don't have to hand. You might also find something in C. Cavallera, "Augustin (Apocryphes)", Dictionnaire de Spiritualité 1 (1937) 1130-35; and B. Blumenkranz, "La survie médiévale de saint Augustin à travers ses apocryphes," in Augustinus Magister, (1954) vol. 2, 1003-18. These are both pretty old and others may have more recent references. -- Paul
