New Media Manager

Period of Appointment: Fixed for a period of 2 years
Salary: The salary for this post will be £28,000 per annum.

Digital Programmes encompasses New Media, Digitisation and Collections Database management teams to provide collection and exhibition-based services most efficiently. The New Media team maintains most of the Gallery’s public access digital programmes from both a software and hardware perspective and guides new developments, sometimes in conjunction with other Gallery teams. These include all components of the Gallery’s website including a kiosk development at the Gallery, the Portrait Explorer touchscreen system at the Gallery and at regional partnerships along with computer-based interactives linked to exhibitions and displays, the Portrait Printer digital print service in the retail shop and online along with the Gallery’s New Media Portraits.

The Gallery is now seeking to find a replacement for the existing New Media Manager to work with a New Media Officer and New Media Assistant on the delivery, maintenance and support of the Gallery’s existing programmes. The three-person team requires that the New Media Manager should be very much at home working within a small team, with hands-on delivery themselves as much as on task, project and line-management responsibilities.

Main duties
•	Ensuring that the website is kept up-to-date and serving our visitors and customers well from editorial, content development and technical perspectives. This includes ensuring that all the key features of the website are functioning well: home page, menu and landing page content structuring, calendar of events, e-commerce, exhibition and other microsites, press, membership and donation mechanisms.
•	Maintaining regular weekly and monthly database-driven updates to the collection search feature on the website, the Portrait Explorer and overview of the Portrait Printer.
•	Ensuring that the website kiosk facility is running smoothly within the IT Gallery and ensuring the New Media team are keeping the Information screens up to date, the Gallery’s New Media portraits, the Portrait Explorer and interactives at regional partnerships are kept up-to-date and functioning well.
•	Project managing internal website developments and collaborations with other teams, as on the BP Next Generation microsite, and that developments with our other external suppliers and contractors are efficiently run.
