CILIP's Information Literacy Executive Briefing 2012
Working together for the future of our profession

Thursday 5 July 2012, London

Information Literacy (IL) is increasingly becoming an important issue, not just for the education and learning sector, but across the whole of society. In the past, IL had been dealt with in silos of specific sectors, but the importance of developing a cross-sectoral approach is becoming more apparent. Information Literacy now needs to be managed as a distinguishing feature across the profession in order for the issues to be tackled effectively, especially now in the networked information world. By promoting fair and equitable access to quality information will enable people to make informed decisions and choices across our sectors and across society.

CILIP's exciting new Executive Briefing brings together an unmatched speaker panel to discuss key issues on IL, examining IL on both a national and sectoral level. This Briefing will offer delegates the opportunity to share knowledge and best practice on this often complex, but important topic. Case Studies from the Health Sector, Further & Higher Education Sectors as well as the Workplace, will ensure this event is a must for those with an interest in Information Literacy.

The day provides unique and exciting opportunities, including:

* An introduction on Information Literacy

* How IL is being addressed on a National level

* JISC's Digital Literacy Strategy

* Truth, lies and the internet - a presentation by Demos

* Case studies from across the library and information sector

* Over 10 speakers from across the LIS community
