With apologies for cross posting: Winner Announced for Credo Reference Digital Award for Information Literacy Inaugural Award Presented at 2012 LILAC Conference Boston and Oxford, (May 10, 2012) – Credo Reference (www.credoreference.com) is pleased to announce that the Skills@Library team from the University of Leeds are the winners of the first Credo Reference Digital Award for Information Literacy for their project “Skills@Library lecturer pages” (http://library.leeds.ac.uk/skills-lecturers). The award was presented in April at the 2012 LILAC Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. The Skills@Library team is a diverse group made up of a mix of learning technologists, skills advisors, math tutors, administrative staff and librarians. The overarching goal of the Lecturer Pages is to help faculty and librarians embed information literacy and broader academic skills development into the curriculum. They offer a bank of ready-made workshops and activities for face-to-face instruction in addition to online learning modules that are all customisableand freely available under the creative commons licence. “Having our work recognised is an honor but having Credo Reference give the award is a real validation of the importance of Information Literacy and academic skills development,” commented Helen Howard, Skills@Library Team Leader, University of Leeds. “This award provides a wonderful venue to share our own work and be inspired by what others are doing in this area.” “Sponsoring this award is a natural extension of our company mission to promote Information Literacy and research effectiveness,” said Mike Sweet, Credo Reference CEO.“We are thrilled to be able to support such innovative work in this crucial area.” As winners of the award, the Skills@Library team received £500 for personal use and £500 for their nominated charity, St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds. The “Skills@Library lecturer pages” were one of over ten projects nominated for the award; judges appointed by the LILAC Conference awards committee selected the winner.
