Hi Karen,

As I mentioned in my previous email all URIs that you see are dereferenceable, but unfortunately not clickable now from the graph, so after cliking on a node you can copy and paste the URI to a new tab and start to see the rdf from there. For example, some URIs are:

- Miguel de Cervantes: http://datos.bne.es/resource/XX1718747

- Don Quijote work: http://datos.bne.es/resource/XX3383563

- Don Quijote de la Mancha Spanish (original) Expression: http://datos.bne.es/resource/XX3383563spa

Another example would be Shakespeare (http://datos.bne.es/resource/XX1020842) where you can see many expressions already linked to VIAF.

I will make the URIs in the graph clickable soon so you can actually access the URIs from there.

Regarding the ontologies used, we plan to improve the description soon but you can find the namespaces in the void file:

http://datos.bne.es/void/bne.ttl

And some information regarding the mapping in the a bit old description of [1].

Cheers,

Daniel

In any case, there are a lot of things that we want to improve regarding the modelling of the data and I hope that we can report on our experiences soon.

This is great, Daniel, thanks. I love the graphical view, but must say that I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at. Is there a way to see the RDF itself? Also, I looked through the site but couldn't find the actual ontologies, which I would like to see. Can you send a link?

Thank you,
kc

Hi Karen,

The National Library of Spain's datos.bne.es <http://datos.bne.es>

dataset is making extensive use of the IFLA FRer vocabulary, and some
use of FRAD. I thought it might be of interest to you. Additionally, you
can visually explore an example of the kind of FRBRzation we are doing,
via Miguel de Cervantes the (still) very raw graph example [1], there
you can see more than 3000 resources (nodes) corresponding to WEM
entities, and more than 3500 relationships (edges). As you can see we
only cover a small fraction of the relationships (is creator of, is
embodied in, is realized through etc.). All URIs are dereferenceable but
I am afraid you have to copy and paste them until we make them clickable
in the example. However it is interesting to see the different clusters
corresponding to the most edited and versioned works from Cervantes.

Please let me know if you need more details,

Cheers,

Daniel

I should mention that I am keeping a wiki page [1] relating to the
various versions of FRBR in RDF, with links to discussions around
the issues of modeling -- in particular the question of defining the
   FRBR classes as disjoint.

Also, FRAD [2] resembles FRBR in structure, but FRSAD [3] takes a
very different approach with only two classes, Thema and Nomen. An
interesting aspect of FRAD, which reflects standard library
practice, is that it retains the concept of a "controlled access
point" and includes a relationship to the rules under which the
access point was developed and the agency that created the access
   point by applying the rules.

If I run into discussions of these latter FRs I will add them to the
   wiki page.

           *Functional Requirements namespaces published*

Namespaces for the Functional Requirements (FR) family of
bibliographic metadata models have been published in Resource
Description Framework (RDF), the basis of the Semantic Web.
           The models
include Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records
           (FRBR),
Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD), and
           Functional
Requirements for Subject Authority Data (FRSAD). The
           namespaces can be
           accessed at _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/_
           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/_>.

The FR element set vocabularies include RDF classes and
           properties
corresponding to FR entities, attributes, and relationships.
           Each
class and property has a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI)
           for use in
           Semantic Web data triples.

A full de-referencing service is available for each URI.
           When used in
an ordinary Web browser, the URI displays HTML pages with
human-readable information about the element or concept.
           When used in
a semantic browser, the URI retrieves machine-readable
           information in
RDF/XML format. It is also possible to retrieve this format
           using an
           ordinary Web browser.

For example, the URI for the FRBR entity-relationship
           (FRBRer) model’s
           Group 1 entity “Work” is
           _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/frbr/frbrer/C1001_
           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/frbr/frbrer/C1001_>. To

           retrieve the

RDF/XML information in a normal Web browser, use
           _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/frbr/frbrer/C1001.rdf_

           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/frbr/frbrer/C1001.rdf_>;
           that is, add

the file extension “.rdf” to the URI.

Another example is the FRSAD attribute “has appellation”:
           the URI of
           the corresponding RDF property is
           _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/frsad/P2003_

           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/frsad/P2003_> and the
           RDF/XML file can

be retrieved in a normal browser using the URL
           _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/frsad/P2003.rdf_
           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/frsad/P2003.rdf_>.

The element set for a specific FR model can be accessed as
           follows:

             *

               FRBRer: _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/frbr/frbrer/_
           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/frbr/frbrer/_>

             *

               FRAD: _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/frad/_
           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/frad/_>

             *

               FRSAD: _http://iflastandards.info/ns/__fr/frsad/_

           <http://iflastandards.info/ns/fr/frsad/_>

The FR namespaces are maintained and accessed using the Open
           Metadata
           Registry (_http://metadataregistry.org/___
           <http://metadataregistry.org/_>).

These element sets reflect the current published models,
           however, as
the FR family is in the process of being consolidated, this
           may result
in the eventual deprecation of some URIs.
