Dear all,

The University of Adelaide is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in sedimentary basin analysis to lead a project focused on the basin scale, physical and chemical controls of organic carbon burial and preservation in the MacArthur Basin, northern Australia. The project will study unique 1.6 Ga organic rich sediments to understand hydrocarbon system potential for unconventional development and develop a geological, paleoenvironmental model for organic carbon rich source rocks in this setting. This research will interface with a broader research group studying the nano-scale controls of carbon cycling in ancient organic rich sediments. The successful candidate will be a motivated individual with broad integrative interests in sedimentary geology and basin analysis who enjoys challenging and unusual research, and has the ability to address industry concerns while pursing fundamental research. Further details of the position and how to apply can be found at the following website:

http://www.adelaide.edu.au/jobs/current/17391/

Requests for further information can be directed to Professor Martin Kennedy ([log in to unmask]) or myself. The position is available immediately for one year in the first instance with the possibility of renewal, based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. Salary for this position is between AUD$53,382-$73,800 per annum, and the appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An employer superannuation contribution of 9% applies. The closing date for applications is 1 June 2012.

Best regards, Simon
