Looking for a straightforward, cost-effective
way of making an impact on the care of your collections?
The significance of housekeeping and cleaning is often overlooked, even
though the absence of these activities can cause serious health and safety
issues as well as damage to an institution’s image and reputation. And it’s
relatively easy to address…
This training day focuses on library and archive collections and covers:
• an understanding of what dust is and why its management is
important
• low-cost methods of monitoring dust and dirt and methods of
preventing its build-up
• practical sessions on how to clean books and
stack areas
• steps to follow when setting up a housekeeping
programme
• what to think about if you are considering involving
volunteers
The training day is targeted at librarians, archivists, collection
managers, library and archive assistants, estates & facilities staff, and
volunteer managers.
It is led by Paul Garside (British Library), Jane Pimlott (British
Library), and Caroline Bendix ACR (Independent Conservator).
Cost: £100 + VAT including lunch and refreshments
