Gone Forever -- Dangers and Opportunities for Media Archiving - Forbes If a media IT manager doesn’t make regular archiving of production data
part of a regular workflow, valuable content, created at great expense,
can be lost forever. The lower costs of storage and better production
and management tools that we have today should make content retention
easier, but sadly that is not always the case. The only content
archived from the original Titanic and the Avatar movies are the final
released versions. Much of the material shot and created in the course
of the production is lost and can only be recreated at extra expense for
follow on projects.
