Subject: Power calculations/sample size

Hello,
I am a trainee clinical scientist and am currently doing a research project. Apparently I should be doing a power calculation to work out how many controls and patients I need to ensure my results are valid, however noone I know knows how to do it! So if anyone can help with a method or website that will show me this that would be great
Thank you!
Laura
