Hi Justin:

You might try the essays on Andrea Vitale's "Le Tarot" site: http://www.letarot.it/page.aspx?id=1

I would also recommend Helen Farley's A Cultural History of Tarot for an overview/introduction.

There is much here and I can recommend more if these don't suffice.

Best,

Karen

Thanks Erik,

I seem to remember Waite saying something similar in his book on the tarot.

I've had a good google, but wouldn't be sure which are reliable sources. So thanks for the links.

Thanks also for the offer of your article in Dutch, its very generous of you. Although to be honest I really wouldn't be able to understand it.

It's the image I'm really interested in and also similar images that may be related.

Best regards and thanks

Justin

Sorry Justin,
sadly the Hanged Man (the Traitor) has always been one of the most misinterpreted cards of the deck.
But... You'll find MANY GOOD articles on the card allover the inet though.
(i always liked the ATS - http://association.tarotstudies.org/main.html)
(and here's a mustsee according to... me : http://www.villarevak.org/index.htm)

I also have a really good article here, but... it's in Dutch (and 20 A4 pages long)(Sorry!)
If you want to try and read it, just tell me (there is copyright on it though.)

My Best,
Erik de Pauw.
