Members of the group may be interested in a debate being held at the Bishopgate Institute, London, on the 4th July.

The legacy of the Olympics has become a key element in the bidding process to host the games with promises of regeneration, employment, sporting participation and more. So what will be left behind in Britain following the 2012 London games? How might the expectation of a legacy influence decisions on future hosts of the games and other mega events? This discussion explores the expectations, reality and implications of the legacy of the Olympics.

Speakers include Dr Derek Casey (Former Chief Executive of the Sports Council and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid Director), Professor Fred Coalter (Visiting Professor, Leeds Metropolitan University and author of A Wider Social Role for Sport: Who's Keeping the Score?) and Professor John Horne (University of Central Lancashire and co-author of Understanding the Olympics). The event will be chaired by Jude England (Head of Social Sciences, The British Library).

Further details and booking information can be found on the Bishopgate Institute events pages: http://bit.ly/IPOAoR
The event forms part of the Capital Games Series.

With best wishes,
Robert
