UCL Department of Information Studies is delighted to be able to invite applications for a new academic post in the field of archives and records management. We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Archives & Records Management to a full-time post from 1 October 2012. The main purposes of this post are research, teaching and public engagement in archives and records management. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise doctoral students and undertake individual and collaborative research, teach at Master’s level, and undertake some public engagement and related administrative duties.
 
The UCL Department of Information Studies (DIS) has a strong international reputation for research and was very highly rated in the UK 2008 research assessment exercise. DIS offers postgraduate qualifications and training for the information professions (including library and information management and archives and records management), publishing and digital humanities, and collaborates in the delivery of an inter-faculty BSc in Information Management for Business.
 
The post holder will be able to demonstrate knowledge and expertise of the management of records and archives in hybrid and digital environments. S/he will have the ability to conduct high quality research, including high quality publications appropriate to their career stage. Applicants must hold a PhD in archives and records management or other relevant discipline, and be able to demonstrate an ability and commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary work. They must also have prior experience of delivering professional education and training in archives and records management. We are willing to consider applications from doctoral candidates who are about to complete their thesis, as well as post doctoral candidates.
