Could someone tell me what the insurance company has got to do with
this? I haven't come across this before.

Just wondering if there are any Equality Act considerations which could
affect this situation.

Thanks

Dear List,

I'd be interested in your views on the following experience of a teacher
friend who was seeking a phased return to work. They were told that, if
they had a phased return, the school would have to bear the whole cost
as the insurance for a supply teacher does not cover phased return. The
implication here is that the insurance company's view is "keep away or
come back full time". Has anyone come across such a view before? It
seems rather contrary to any current ideas on returning to work - and
more expensive for the insurance company.

I look forward to your comments.

Kind regards

Kevin

Dear Kevin

I have had a reply from Felicity which she sent last night - this is
what it said.

Glad to hear things are improving. I will ring HR tomorrow and get
advice about a phased return. It is a good idea and I would support
this but I think we have to bear the whole cost of the cover as the
insurance doesn't cover it. I will check. I was wondering if you would
like to do the appraisal interviews for your team as we are at that time
again! I will ring you after I have been in touch with HR so we can
talk about it then. It will probably be tomorrow night.
