Hi, I am new to this forum (and OH) and am enjoying access to such experienced individuals... thank you all! I am studying my Dip in OH at Warwick Uni and for my final assignment am exploring the challenge of Continuous Professional Development for OH nurses and how management involvement and support can have a postive effect. This is a "work-based needs analysis" project which I am relating to the private clinic where I work. I believe that CPD away from the NHS or a regular clinical environment poses a challenge. As mainly lone workers in a usually time pressured and profit maximising environment the opportunity to fulfil the legal requirement as set by the NMC is possibly not as easy as it may be for other nurse specialists. I will welcome any comments that relate to the following:

1. If you were asked to send your professional portfolio to the NMC within 24 hours would this be an easy task?!
2. Do you feel that CPD is your own responsibility and management need not be involved?
3. Do you have a regular appraisal and if so does your CPD come into this and does it fit into your companies strategy?

Many thanks in anticipation!
LH
