And if you want to store the keys on site safely you can get a combination wall mounted keysafe as used by district nurses and carers outside peoples homes who cannot get up to open the door. We have one in our department and it ensures that the keys are avialble, only one set exists and only OH staff know the code.

I have worked for several agencies and as a self employed OH - it was considered safe to have a filing cabinet on site that only the OH staff had keys to.
This means that you don't have to save bulky files at home, but nobody else can gain access.

Hope this helps?

The company I worked for previously did work for small businesses with no in house OHA. We kept the files on our premises. It also meant it was easier for the company to keep the OH contract with us as they knew we kept everything safe and up to date.

Hope this helps a little,
Roberta

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] re-ownership of surveillance records

Good Morning List,
I am an independent practitioner and I have been asked to carryout FLT medicals by a local warehouse company.
I have never carried out work for anyone who does not have onsite occ health. Can anyone tell me who
is responsible for the storage of the files. Is it me, do I have to take them off site or can a manager be responsible for them if they are stored safely.Thank you in advance
Regards
Lynne Gilliland, .
