It is so true.

Why in heavens "aesthetic of process" have to be associated exclusively to digital and/or computational?

Are analogue aesthetical objects deprived form it? Or they fit into a sort of "aesthetic of becoming" or "aesthetic of ontogenesis"?

Am I getting old?

An aesthetic of process (versus an aesthetic of the object) predates the computer/media arts and was implicit in the dialogues of Fluxus, Art Language, Arte Povera, Kinetics, Systems Art, etc.... and date back to Surrealism, Dada, Apollinaire, Darwin and beyond.

Many of us, using computers back in the early days were very aware we were building on an established tradition when we first explored the possibilities of code and generative art in the 1960's and 70's.
