medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

In the Chruch of Santa Maria Assunta, in Torcello (Venice), there is a
mosaic with Byzantine influence, in which St. Michael is shown weighing
souls: http://www.art-history-images.com/photo?id=8813

Petrus Christus' Last Judgment is quite similar to the one painted by Van
Eyck, today at the Metropolitan, which was painted around 1430s:

Gather ye Rose-buds while ye may,
Old Time is still a flying:
And this same flower that smiles to day,
To morrow will be dying.

Robert Herrick (1591-1674)
