Dear colleagues,

Following on from Prof Andy Miah's recent invitation to the #media2012 pre-games meet in Manchester on the 18th-19th May http://www.media2012.org.uk/2012/04/media2012-pre-games-nationwide-meeting/, The Scotland hub of the #media2012 network, a nationwide project conceived in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland, are aiming to recruit reporters from all background to cover the alternative narratives of the torch relay in Scotland as part of a Creative Scotland funded project called http://citizenrelay.net

We are looking to further engage citizenrelay reporters ahead of a training roadshow in partnership with the media trust, somewhereto.com (legacy trust) and the University of the West of Scotland - I've detailed the project in this below blog post

http://jennifermjones.net/2012/04/19/engaging-citizenrelay-reporters/

Essentially, I am writing to you all to spare a moment of your time to read the above post, share with your networks and to try and widen the current reach so we can reach out to as many people as possible across Scotland to help us cover the torch relay in this time. Even to suggest a few names or groups that we might wish to engage with would be really helpful as we aim to reach out to communities of academics, artists, activists and beyond. Our training roadshow will reach Inverness (3rd May), Aberdeen (4th May), Glasgow (5th May) and Edinburgh (6th May) and we have funds to support those who are not from larger cities. I know there is a lot geeky media knowledge on this mailing list, so any advice on community media organisations, media education, community radio, hyperlocal blogs etc would also be right up our street.

Thanks for your time and if you are interested in getting involved in the #media2012 project more generally in other areas of the UK, please do get in touch.

Best wishes

Jennifer
