Dear Colleagues,

On 30 November last year, Professor Siegbert Prawer (1925-2012) delivered what he announced as his farewell lecture, "Childe Harold’s Jewish Pilgrimage: Byron Meets Yiddish Poetry in Expressionist Berlin, 1920-1923". The editors of Oxford German Studies arranged for it to be published at the earliest possible opportunity. He passed away in the last few days of printing, and wasn't able to see the printed issue, but it is now available both in print and online. Siegbert was an inspirational lecturer, and in the spirit of his parting address we have made his final lecture freely accessible online here:

(No subscription is required to read the article, exactly in the form printed in the journal; all are welcome. The full reference is Oxford German Studies 41.1 (2012), 1-14.)

Colleagues may also like to know that Jim Reed's obituary of Siegbert Prawer appeared in The Times for Tuesday 17 April 2012, and there is a further short note in his memory here:

Best wishes,
