Hi Sally

I’ve been working with the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich as evaluator (front-end and formative) for their new digital learning tablet (app based) – being rolled out to KS3 students initially as part of study days at the Museum. Best person to talk to at the Museum would be Jane Findlay (Digital Participation Officer) 02088584422.

Best

Hi Martin

thanks for this - I shall have a good dig around on there

So far I've had more people asking for a copy of the responses than actual responses (I know this is often the way on GEM). Just 3 responses so far with info in them.

So am using this opportunity to shamelessly push this again and ask for more replies to my question below - more of you must know more about this stuff I'm sure of it!

MoL / V&A / Tate etc all very welcome indeed, as are others...

I'm especially interested in any examples that are relevant to design (eg objects / craft / vis arts / engineering / architecture / innovation / technology etc)

Thanks all

Sally

Hi Sally

Hopefully you will hear/have heard back from people at Museum of London, V&A, Herbert Gallery, Tate and others …

I think it may be one of DLNET’s conferences you refer to below. I am sure you are already aware of the Digital Learning Network (DLNET) but just in case:

 <http://www.digitallearningnetwork.net> www.digitallearningnetwork.net

The website has just been redeveloped and at the moment there is only one past event listed, but if you want more details about a specific past event let me know. The next DLNET event is a joint event with the Museums Computer Group in Manchester on 11 July 2012 and the programme is just being developed at the moment.

I would be interested in seeing a summary of responses to your enquiry – maybe you are sending one to the list?

Best wishes

Martin

Hello there

I know lots of you have been genning up on digital engagement in the past couple of years. Could I pick GEM's brains as follows?

1. Do any of you have / know of really good practice that blends e-learning / digital learning with school workshops at Secondary level. This could be before / during or after the museum visit / workshop.

I'm specifically looking for innovative examples or those with evidenced impact (it's a given things like downloadable resource packs / worksheets and access to images will be available)

2. Do you have / know of good practice in evaluating the impact of such e-learning facilities either which work alongside workshops; or support self-directed visits

(I'm sure there was a big evaluation conference or something like that a year or so ago about digital engagement and learning - anyone recall that and could add anything helpful from there?)

Or your own experiences, reports etc?

Please feel free to send me your reports, links to articles, websites, informal responses off the top of your head, examples of things you saw / encountered in other venues and were blown away by etc

And of course do feel free to say if you want your responses kept anonymous, confidential, off the record - all the usual...

Thanks so much as ever

Sally
