Apologies - to people outside London for the
Londoncentric message but......
The Museum of London is pleased to announce that
nominations are now open for the London Volunteers in Museums Awards 2012. Most of London’s 250 museums could not open to the
public without the support of volunteers, yet there is little recognition of the
massive contribution they make.
Volunteers play a major role in caring for and interpreting London’s heritage and
culture, and ensuring that this heritage is accessible to Londoners and tourists
alike. These Awards recognise the immense input volunteers make to London’s museums, large
and small.
The Museum of London Volunteer Development Project aims
to support the development of volunteering in London Museums. We see these Awards as an ideal chance
to highlight how important volunteers are to museums, showcase the range of
roles volunteers undertake, and show the diversity of different people who offer
their time as volunteers. In the
last three years the event has been a huge success, attended by Volunteers
and Volunteer Managers from across London.
We hope that this year will be equally exciting.
There are a range of different categories for both
individuals and teams, as well as a special award to recognise the achievements
of staff managing volunteers. I am afraid there is a very tight deadline
and we need nominations in by May 3rd, but the form is very simple, and
hopefully relatively quick to complete. We've been running the event for
three years now, and its always a wonderful and inspirational night, and all the
volunteers involved seem to get a lot out of it.
The nomination form and further guidance are attached,
but do get in touch if you have any questions
Just in case you need
