And if you were being cynical you'd say the lady is doing just what the GP has accused her of - wasting time for the surgery and its staff!

The obvious unmentioned byline is that this lady has a grudge of some sort against this practice and is out to cause trouble, we all have people like that.

It must be Friday, my cynicism meter is at maximum!!

I'm not sure about this one. It rather looks like the requester has gone to the press, and is happy for them to publish her name, her photo and the fact she made the requests. Assuming I'm correct on this, and acknowledging that the press story is "after the fact", I'm not sure how unfair it was for the GP to publish her name. Certainly it is at the very minor end of DP breaches.

Bedwyn GP Tim Ballard has apologised to a patient after he criticised her, saying staff time had been taken up answering requests she made under the Freedom of Information Act.

http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/news/9656379.GP_says_sorry_for_naming_patient/

My experience Is that very few GPs know about Data Protection or Freedom of information. Even those who know about FOI tend to hate it and/or ignore it.
