We proudly present . . .

?Conservation Cabaret?
Friday 27th April 2012
The Creative Lounge, Showroom Cinema, Sheffield

This innovative and exciting joint meeting between the Archives and
Records Association Northern region and the Northern Group of Conservators
will bring Archivists and Conservators together for a day of exchanging
ideas and practice. The programme will include practical advice on from
conservators on preservation, exhibition and using CALM for conservation.

Archivist and Conservators are part of the same discipline, but so often
we may be seeing the same documents from different perspectives.
Conservation or access? CALM for cataloguing - or CALM for conservation?
What does an Archivist want from a Conservator - and what would a
Conservator like to see from an Archivist? And how can you organise an
exhibition to please all of us!

For so many archival professionals, working with an in-house conservator
is a distant prospect, with on-hand advice just one of many dreams. This
day is ideal for those archivists who don't have regular access to
conservation advice. In the current financial climate it?s also crucial
that we explore ways of working together better - we'll explore the best
ways for our two professions to work towards our common goals. This joint
meeting with the Northern Group of Conservators will bring Archivists and
Conservators together for a day of exchanging ideas in the heart of
Sheffield.

Ground breaking, good humoured and just a little bit risqué, the Northern
Region Conservation Cabaret is a date not to be missed!

The cost of the day will be only £3.

Quotes from delegates at previous Northern Region meetings:
Finally, someone has actually put together a decent event that is relevant
and very reasonably priced. Congratulations Northern Region!
Absolutely fantastic, at the end of the day I was raring to get back to
the office and get started.

I find these Northern Region events to be very well run and inclusive.
They meet an important need in the current climate which allows people to
meet and discuss relevant issues in the sector at a very reasonable cost.
