Dear Colleagues,

British & Irish Sound Archives (BISA) invites you to this year's annual event on Friday 18th and Saturday (a.m.) 19th May at the Norfolk Record Office in Norwich.
You can register here http://www.bisa-web.org/registration .

What's BISA?
BISA provides a network for knowledge exchange and contacts for more than 120 Archivists, Librarians, Curators and other professionals across Britain and Ireland who have sound recordings of any type within the collections in their care. Sound recordings deserve and demand the same professional care and management as all archival assets, and pose some unique challenges for archivists. BISA can help with answering - and asking - the questions particular to the world of archival audio.

What's happening at Norwich?
This year's varied programme includes Friday's presentations and discussions on archival description of music, managing large digital archives, establishing a sound archive and the legal, ethical and practical issues of publishing sounds.

On Saturday morning there'll be a practical session on building taxonomies including for audio and audio-visual collections and how they support linked data and the semantic web.

The full programme can be found here http://www.bisa-web.org/agenda and the final updates will be appearing shortly.

What does registration cost?
The registration fee is a very modest £15 for BISA members and £25 for non-members, and BISA Membership is currently FREE, so join today!

Archivally Yours,

Simon Rooks
